Mounted archery is a global sport, with many cultures having their own long traditions in the discipline. Here are some good places to start for finding more information, and where to start looking for equipment.

HAUSA logo

HAUSA

The national organization of which MAP is a chapter. HAUSA provides our insurance coverage and organizes national and local competitions. All participants are required to hold an active HAUSA membership to shoot while riding.

IHAA

The IHAA is the global governing body for the sport of mounted archery. IHAA creates the standards for grading horse archers, so they can rank their skills on an international level. They also organize bi-monthly postal matches at multiple levels, as well as the bi-annual World Championships.

Armin Hirmer

Armin Hirmer is an expert archer who provides in-depth reviews of nearly every Asiatic bow (AKA "horse bow") available on the market today. Before buying any bow, check out his YouTube page.

Mihai Cozmei

Mihai Cozmei is the top-ranked horse archer in the world. Now retired from competition, he has many helpful video tutorials on mounted archery and fast shooting. He and his wife also make specialized quivers for mounted archery, as well as traditional clothing and other equestrian gear.
