Mounted archery is a global sport, with many cultures having their own long traditions in the discipline. Here are some good places to start for finding more information, and where to start looking for equipment.
Mounted Archery Association of the Americas
MA3 is our national governing body, as well as our liability insurance provider. As a local chapter, all MAP club members must have an active membership in MA3. MA3 approves locations to offer grading and national ranking for archers, allowing skills to be measured without direct, in-person competitions.
International Horseback Archery Alliance
The IHAA is the global governing body for the sport of mounted archery. IHAA creates the standards for grading horse archers, so they can rank their skills on an international level. They also organize bi-monthly postal matches at multiple levels, as well as the bi-annual World Championships.
Armin Hirmer
Armin Hirmer is an expert archer who provides in-depth reviews of nearly every Asiatic bow (AKA "horse bow") available on the market today. Before buying any bow, check out his YouTube page.
Living Arrow Horseback Archery
Mihai Cozmei is the top-ranked horse archer in the world. Now retired from competition, he has many helpful video tutorials on mounted archery and fast shooting. He and his wife also make specialized quivers for mounted archery, as well as traditional clothing and other equestrian gear.
AliBow
AliBow is a top manufacturer for traditional asiatic archery bows. They offer many fiberglass limb bows, which are at a great introductory price point for someone interested in trying out the sport. They have also reecently begun producing different styles of quivers specifically for mounted archery, recoginizing that on the horse, your choise of quiver is as important, if not more so, than your choice of bow. Based in China, it may take a few months to recieve an order from them, but the quality is worth the wait.
Linkboy Archery
Primarily an arrow manufacturer, Linkboy carries everything you need to fill your quiver, including specialized knocks that are necessary for rapid fire shooting from horseback.
3 Rivers Archery
3 Rivers is the premier supplier for traditional archery equipment in the US. Although they focus more on longbows and traditional recurve bows, they do carry a few asiatic style bows (AKA "horse bows") with a much faster shipping time than ordering from overseas. They also have everything you need to build your own arrows, and they carry a wide variety of protection gear, and a few quivers that could be used for mounted archery.
